A grappler works an armbar attempt from bottom position but the angle isn't quite right. His opponent on top recognizes the elbow placement is safe, past the hips where no real finish exists. Instead of working to pass or escape, the top player starts taunting. He drags his hand across his face, fakes a slap motion inches from his opponent's head.
The bottom grappler sees the disrespect. He releases the armbar attempt entirely and delivers a real slap across the top player's face. No hesitation, full contact. The sound echoes through the venue. Every competitor nearby stops to watch what happens next.
The top player retaliates immediately with his own slap. Now both grapplers are trading strikes in the middle of a jiu-jitsu match. The ref rushes in to separate them before it escalates further. Both fighters resist the intervention briefly, still heated from the exchange.
Who deserves the bigger penalty? Does the fake slap justify the real one? Will both competitors get disqualified or does one walk away with just a warning?
