Jesse Enkamp steps onto the mat. Karate black belt versus BJJ purple belt. The rules? Jesse can strike, Josh Beam can only grapple. No gloves for the BJJ guy. This is controlled sparring, but things are about to get interesting.
Josh charges in looking for the takedown. Jesse's throwing punches, knees, lighting him up on the way in. The purple belt's eating shots trying to close distance. His takedown game isn't there. Jesse sprawls, creates space, and Josh keeps walking into strikes. One minute turns into two, then three. The grappler won't quit.
Finally Josh gets the clinch. He drags Jesse down after absorbing what looks like fifty strikes. Now he's working on the ground, hunting position. Jesse's tired from all that striking. But here's the thing: in a real fight, would Josh have survived those three minutes of getting hit?
The camera guy says Jesse was gassed and ready to submit. But was Josh already finished long before he got the takedown? How many of those strikes would've ended it if they were thrown at full power?
